Truth or perhaps the most terrible fraud perpetrated on man

Thomas Jefferson claimed he saw a UFO?
If you have been reading media recently originating from around the world but particularly in the United States of America, you must have come across  the vast number of  "anti-Mormon" and considerably less "pro-Mormon" articles, and comments being published. All of which stems from the fact that some bloke seeking the presidential nomination in "the land of the free" happens to believe the Book of Mormon is scripture.

I haven't seen any mention that George Washington claimed to have met an Extraterrestrial, or that Thomas Jefferson is apparently the highest ranking American to report a UFO sighting. People write comments belittling Latter-day Saints for their beliefs especially in Temples, yet don't seem to find it strange in anyway that many presidents have been Freemasons. None of these "beliefs", "experiences" or societal involvement seems to have affected their ability to hold the office of President, so why should Mitt Romney's belief system make him any less capable?

Why is it that so many citizens in a self proclaimed Christian nation feel the necessity to attack others about their beliefs?

Strange!!
